  55. Restrict access to your computer with Security Administrator for Windows 95/98.
  56. This password-protected security utility enables you to impose a variety of
  57. access restrictions to protect your privacy and stop others from tampering
  58. with your desktop. You can deny access to each individual component of several
  59. Control Panel applets, including Display, Network, Passwords, Printers, and
  60. System. You can disable your boot keys, DOS windows, Registry editing, and
  61. network access. Hide your desktop icons, individual drives, Start menu items,
  62. or even the entire taskbar. You can also apply password protection to Windows
  63. and restrict users to running specific applications only. Security restrictions
  64. can be applied universally or just to specific users. You'll find the program
  65. interface very easy to negotiate. Excellent online help is available.

  69. What is new in 2.x versions

  72. 1. Custom Shell Folders. Now you may customize Windows Shell Folders such as
  73.    Desktop, Favorites, My Documents, etc, for each user much more flexibler
  74.    than by standard Windows methods.
  75. 2. Restriction "Disable View Context Menu". Removes context menus from Desktop
  76.    and Windows Explorer. While this restriction is turned on, a user can not
  77.    open context menus for any items of Desktop and Windows Explorer using
  78.    right mouse button or any other way. This restriction is applicable for
  79.    Windows 98 only.
  80. 3. Restriction "Disable Tray Context Menu". Removes context menu from Task Bar
  81.    and System Tray Bar. While this restriction is turned on, a user can not
  82.    open Task Bar and System Tray Bar context menu using right mouse button or
  83.    any other way. This restriction is applicable for Windows 98 only.
  84. 4. Restriction "Disable Start Menu Context Menu". Removes context menu from
  85.    Start Menu. While this restriction is turned on, a user can not open Start
  86.    Menu context menu using right mouse button for an item of the menu. This
  87.    restriction is applicable for Windows 98 only.
  88. 5. Restriction "Remove File menu from Explorer". Removes the File option from
  89.    Explorer's toolbar. This restriction is applicable for Windows 98 only.
  90. 6. Restriction "Remove Log Off item from the Start Menu". Removes Log Off
  91.    <Username> item from the Start Menu.
  92. 7. Smart Installer/Uninstaller. Now you can install the program into the same
  93.    directory over an old version of Security Administrator. Installer will update
  94.    your old version correctly. If you wish to uninstall Security Administrator,
  95.    Smart Uninstaller will remove not only Application Files, but also all set
  96.    restrictions. If your Security Administrator is password protected, Uninstaller
  97.    will ask the password before removing Restrictions and Application Files.

  101. What is new in 3.x versions

  104. 1. The group of Internet Related Restrictions is now available. In this group
  105.    there are a useful restrictions such as "Hide the Internet Explorer Icon",
  106.    which allows you to remove Internet Explorer from the Windows Desktop.
  107. 2. Restriction "Disable the Windows Animation Function". Although the Windows
  108.    animation function, can look good it can slow down your PC if you have a
  109.    slower graphics card. This option allows you to disable the Windows animation
  110.    function. This option is enabled in the Win95 only.
  111. 3. Restriction "Disable Smooth Scrolling Function". This setting allows you to
  112.    disable the Windows smooth scrolling function, which on a low-powered system
  113.    can cause performance degradation.

  117. What is new in 4.x versions

  120. 1. The restriction "Remove the Windows Update from Settings on the Start Menu".
  121.    Enabling this option, removes the Windows Update option from Settings on the
  122.    Start Menu, therefore stopping users from unwanted updating your Windows.
  123. 2. The restriction "Remove the Folder Options from Settings on the Start Menu".
  124.    Enabling this option, removes the Folder Options option from Settings on the
  125.    Start Menu, therefore stopping users from changing folder options.
  126. 3. The restriction "Remove the Active Desktop from Settings on the Start Menu".
  127.    Enabling this option, removes the Active Desktop option from Settings on the
  128.    Start Menu, therefore stopping users from playing with desktop styles.
  129. 4. The smart warning system helping avoid troubles connected with using the
  130.    option "Require User's Validation for Windows Access". Now the program can
  131.    check your network configuration and inform a user that something is wrong
  132.    before the user have applied this restriction.
  133. 5. In the versions 3.x there was a bug because of that it was impossible to use
  134.    the program if the number of user profiles is more than 10. In the version
  135.    4.0 this bug was fixed, so now you can use as much user profiles as you want.

  142. This software is distributed as shareware. To keep the program on your
  143. personal computer you should register it. The first step is to obtain a
  144. registration code by paying a fee to the author in the amount of $25 or with
  145. some discounts depending on quantity of licenses(see below). You may buy the
  146. license(s) using Online Registration via Secure Server. If you do not wish to
  147. use Online Registration you may use the following alternatives: Telephone
  148. orders, Fax orders, or payment may be sent via postal mail or other delivery
  149. methods. The second step is to enter your registration code in the program.
  150. Use the Help-Register item in the main menu to enter the code in the program.
  151. To avoid errors I recommend using Windows Clipboard when entering the code.
